Bezza Long Term Review

Bezza 1.3 Premium X AT Back View

1.3 Premium X AT (December 2017) Owned for 1 Year and 2 Months

I would say that the main reason most consumers including myself would opt to buy this car is to save cost on fuel.

In terms of legroom, I would say that is is quite decent and roomy as it is surprisingly enough to seat 4 adults comfortably without any issues.

The trunk is suprsingly large as well as compared to its Big Brother as 508 litres versus the Vios at 506 litres. It is almost a 100 litres larger compared to its national rival the Saga at 508 litres vs 413 litres respectively.

For an A segment car I would say I am quite impressed as it comes with Advanced features such as push start button, keyless entry even on a mid spec Premium X variant. This feature would place its national rival the Saga to shame as the saga doesn’t come with Keyless entry or Push Start Button eventhough it is simlarly price in Malaysia.

In terms of performance, it is a powerful car due to its high Power to Weight Ratio (94hp for a 915kg car = 102 hp/tonne, other similar priced competitor all have less than 100, Saga @ 90.8 hp/tonne, Persona @ 92.6 hp/tonne). It can easily sprint if you rev it hard.

In layman terms if you have driven a Myvi or an Axia before, the Bezza feels like its between the two. Surprisingly powerful enough on the 1.3 but will disappointed when needing that extra speed on acceleration. I guess it is compensated by its light weight body. The transmission is the trusty one used on previous Perodua models.

In terms of NVH ( Noise Vibration and Harshness). I would say that it is probably the worst modern car I have ever experienced regarding NVH. Even If you compared it to an old Proton Wira it has better NVH as compared to the Bezza. When it rains, it feels like someone is knocking on my car roof hunderds of times using sticks. The tyre roar is audible when at speed. Wind noise when reaching 80kmph is what Bezza owners need to be used to.

In terms of safety. I believe that the ESC(Electornic Stability Control) should be standard on all Bezza models. Perodua should not be considered a lowly priority. I was disapointed to find out that they offer ESC as a standard feature on the all the Myvi but not on the Bezza.

In terms of the weight of the car it feels abit wobbly and I would definetly hope that Perodua adds more weight to the car for the 2nd generation Bezza in the future, this is because when your’re accelerating on the highway between speeds of 80km/h to 90 km/h, you will feel the car sway to the sideways. The swaying will usually occur when heavy vehicles pass by you or when a vehicle is speeding rapidly pass you. I am certain that most Bezza owners would agreed with me regarding this issue.

In terms of overall comfort. I would say that on long drives, you would feel that your back would start to hurt as the seats doesn’t offer sufficient support for long journeys. In addition, the steering column can’t be adjusted to front and for people with longer legs, your legs will hit the center console often.

Thing that are recommneded to be Improved for the 2nd generation Bezza in the future

>Better NVH

>ESC made standard on all models just like the Perodua Myvi

> LED Daytime running light as standard feature just like the Perodua Myvi

> More Airbags as standard as safety is a main priorty when driving on the road.

It is quite a letdown that Perodua focuses more on the safety on the Myvi as compared to its others cars such as the Bezza.

The Myvi base 1.3 version gets 4 SRS Airbags as a standard feature, whereas the Bezza only get 2 SRS Airbags.

> In addition for the Digital Air Conditional Controls.

The Digital Air Conditional Controls which has 2 memory settings for the air conditioning  is a standard feature availabe in the Myvi but it is not available in Bezza. Perodua should definetly implement the 2 memory settings for the 2nd generation Bezza as it would be a convienent feature to have and the driver would be able to adjust the air conditioning according to their respective preference.
