Introduction

Bezza is the first EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) Sedan produced by a Malaysian automobile manufacturer, Perodua.

Perodua has responded to the needs of its consumers by introducing its first sedan based on the Perodua Axia platform. A whole lot of emphasis has been given on the fuel efficiency of the car.

The Bezza is also Perodua’s first model to be featuring stop-start idling along with regenerative braking and VSC (Vehicle Stability Control).

In addition it comes with two engine options which is the 1.0 litre engine which produces 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm and the 1.3 litre engine produces 94 hp at 6,000 rpm and 121 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

The Perodua Bezza is filled with technologically advanced features, some of which are new to Perodua as well as the other sedans in this price range. Though the back seat of the sedan is not that spacious, the manufacturers have managed to compensate it with some other quality features.


And if that much space is still not enough for you, the seats can be folded and customized in as many as eight different ways so that you can fold them the way you want to as per the requirement. The legroom and headroom inside the vehicle are also good enough.


The premium 1.3 litre version comes equipped with push start or stop button and keyless entry which is a first for Perodua Cars in Malaysia.


The Advance version features leather seats, multipurpose compartment, hand phone slot & USB port, luggage net and an under luggage compartment. The flexible seating arrangements and the other comfort features make it a joy for the driver as well as the passengers.


The Advance version of the Bezza features a multimedia system with navigation and GPS options along with all the entertainment features. The “Smart Link’ feature allows you to connect your Android smartphone with the system.

At 508 litres, the Perodua sedan’s boot is almost 100 litres bigger than the Saga’s (413 litres), and two litres more than the the Bezza’s big brother, the Toyota Vios.

The Perodua Bezza showcases a sleek design with chrome grille in the face coupled with a chrome back door garnish. The LED rear combination lamps which come with light guides bring beauty along with a utility to the vehicle. The Shark Fin Antenna helps give the car a more premium look as it is a common feature available in modern cars such as the Honda City in Malaysia.

The Premium X and Advance versions comes with front fog lamps. This is a convenient feature especially when driving during the night as it adds to the illumination directed to the surface and verges of the roads.

In addition, The Premium X and Advance versions also comes with chrome outer-door handles.

The Advance variant also comes with retractable side mirrors, integrated with turn signals. This is a convenient feature to have especially when parking in tight parking spots in Malaysia.

The Perodua Bezza comes equipped with 14-inch alloy wheels. The 1.0-litre variant of the sedan weighs 865 kg while the 1.3-litre weighs 930 kg, making both the variants lightweight as per the category standards.

The Perodua Bezza is available in the market with six different color options - Ebony Black, Lava Red, Solid Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Ocean Blue and Sugar Brown. The last two color options are only available with the 1.3-liter variant.

For potential car buyers of the Bezza who which to have a higher resalue value of the car, they might opt for the Glittering Silver or Solid Ivory White as the salesperson from perodua has mentioned it is a standard colour that is preferred by most people out there, and would generally have a 5-10% higher resale value as compared to Ocean Blue,Sugar Brown Ebony Black and Lava Red in the market.


Performance of the Bezza

The energy efficient Sedan from Perodua comes with two different engine options - 1.0-litre VVT-i and 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i engines.

The Bezza 1.0L makes 67 hp at 6,000 rpm and 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm, modest increases of 1 hp and 1 Nm over the Axia. Fuel consumption is rated at 22.8 km per litre for the manual model and 21.3 km per litre for the automatic, making it even more economical than the Axia (21.6 km/l for M/T, 20.1 km/l for A/T). The engine is Euro 4 compliant, just like the Axia.

The premium 1.3 litre 1NR-VE four-cylinder engine Produces 94 hp at 6,000 rpm and 121 Nm at 4,000 rpm, 5 hp and 4 Nm up on the Myvi 1.3L, and fuel consumption is rated at 21.7 km per litre for the manual and 21.0 km per litre for the automatic. The auto-only Advance model achieves 22.0 km per litre, thanks to the inclusion of Eco Idle automatic start-stop system and regenerative braking. This engine also meets Euro 4 emissions standards.

Summary

The Perodua Bezza its car that is value for money especially for first time car buyers out there, starting from RM 34,490 for the 1.0 Gxtra Manual to RM 47,790 for the 1.3 Advance. Its a car that comes equipped with keyless entry, push start button as well as hill assist. A feature that is not available to its direct rival the Proton Saga.

So if your looking for a pratical car that is suitable for day to day usage then the Perodua Bezza would be the right choice for you.
